PREVENT RUST ON STORED GEARS WITH GEARLOGIC

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GEARLOGIC PROCESS

Can GearLogic be used on non-Philadelphia Gear-brand gear drives?

Yes. Any brand gear drive currently being stored at your facility is likely a candidate for GearLogic.

Will GearLogic work with synthetic oils?

Yes, but the gearbox needs to be flushed before being filled with synthetic oil. Mineral oils do not require flushing before filling, since GearLogic dissolves in mineral oil after the gearbox has been filled.

Can GearLogic be applied at my location, or while a gearbox is in service?

No. Due to the specialized equipment required for GearLogic, gearbox must be shipped to the nearest Philadelphia Gear® Regional Service Center for treatment.

Does GearLogic require an in-shop overhaul?

No. Gearboxes can be sent directly from your site to Philadelphia Gear for GearLogic treatment.

What size gearboxes are eligible for GearLogic?

The GearLogic long-term preservation warranty can be applied to virtually any size industrial gearbox.

Do GearLogic-treated gearboxes need to have their shafts rotated, or have other preventative maintenance work performed in storage?

No. The user-friendly GearLogic design requires no shaft rotation. The only “maintenance” necessary is periodically checking the desiccant bags and hygroscopic breather to see if they need replacement.

How much does a GearLogic treatment cost?

Costs vary depending on gearbox type and other factors. Rest assured, GearLogic is intended to be a value-added service that can provide our customers with increased peace of mind for a relatively minimal cost.

What are the benefits of GearLogic and proper gear lubricant?

GearLogic prevents near-instantaneous damage to gears by applying a non-hardening preservative barrier, protecting gearboxes from humidity and rust corrosion during storage, and its unique non-hardening feature simplifies the reintegration process without the need for flushing.

Gear lubricant provides crucial benefits for machinery by reducing friction and wear between gears, leading to increased efficiency and prolonged equipment life. It helps dissipate heat generated during operation, preventing overheating and maintaining optimal operating temperatures. Additionally, gear lubricants act as a protective barrier, preventing corrosion and minimizing the impact of contaminants, ensuring smooth and reliable gear performance.
