PHILADELPHIA GEAR OPENS NEW REGIONAL FACILITY IN
New facility provides 40,000 square feet of office, manufacturing space
NOVEMBER 8, 2005 (Houston, TX) Philadelphia
Gear Corporation, a full-service provider of gearing and power transmission
solutions, announces the opening of its new Gulf Coast Regional
Service Center in Houston, Texas.
Philadelphia Gear had served the U.S. Gulf Coast for
over 20 years from its original Houston location. The new state-of-the-art
Philadelphia Gear facility offers over 40,000 square feet of office
and manufacturing space, and is equipped with the following capabilities:
1. On-site grinding, hobbing and shaving
2. Electronic gear checking
3. A 35-ton crane capacity
4. A comprehensive machine shop
5. Isolated dirty and clean work areas
6. On-site engineering and technical consultations
7. A roll stand (to check gear contact, simulate housing parallelism,
8. EPA approved painting and cleaning facilities with water
and waste recovery systems
The Houston facility features three on-site
test stands. Each stand offers 35,000 horsepower, 25,000 RPM
input speeds, and API and load testing capabilities. In addition,
the facility, like all other Philadelphia Gear regional service
centers, has Internet-based access to Philadelphia Gear's
world-class Engineering and Technical Center in Norristown,
Pennsylvania and its vast library of drawings, engineering
standards, and manufacturing process standards.
Boyd Swearingen will remain General Manager
of Philadelphia Gears Gulf Coast region, headquartered
at the new Houston facility. The facility is located at 10830
