PHILADELPHIA GEAR HELPS SPONSOR
THE GE FRAME 6 USERS GROUP CONFERENCE, HELD IN HOUSTON, TX

PGC presents on combustion turbine maintenance

September 7, 2005 (Norristown, PA) – Philadelphia Gear Corporation, a full-service provider of gearing and power transmission solutions, was a key participant in the GE Frame 6 Users Group Conference, held August 28-31, 2005 at the South Shore Harbour Resort in Houston, Texas.

The Frame 6 Conference is an annual event limited to organizations that own or operate General Electric Frame 6 power generation packages. The conference is an open forum where members can share their problems, discuss maintenance solutions, and listen to presentations given by other companies. It allows Frame 6 Users to share as much information as possible regarding any technical issues they are having with their Frame 6 power generation package.

PGC, in its capacity as a principal OEM for the gear drives associated with the Frame 6 combustion turbine-generator systems, delivered a presentation entitled “Frame 6 Gear Drive Operation and Maintenance Considerations” which highlighted cost effective maintenance actions required to ensure reliable gear drive operation. The program also reviewed a sampling of Frame 6 gear drive operational problems and their solutions.

Jules DeBaecke, Vice President of Engineering at the company’s Norristown, PA corporate and technical center, conducted the seminar. “Attending the conference was a great opportunity for us to gain a vast amount of information from other owners on preventative maintenance and possible maintenance solutions for the Frame 6 turbine-generator systems,” DeBaecke said after the conference. “All things considered, this is one of the most successful power generation platforms that General Electric has produced, and we are proud to have played such an instrumental role in that success. It was great to meet with the end users to discuss their field experiences, and we certainly look forward to involvement in future GE Frame 6 User’s Group Conferences.”
