PHILADELPHIA GEAR'S BIRMINGHAM FACILITY COMPLETES
ISO-9001 (2000 STANDARD) RECERTIFICATION
Recertification shows Regional Service Center's
commitment to manufacturing and service excellence
June 28, 2004 (Birmingham, AL) -
Philadelphia Gear Corporation, a full-service provider of gearing
and power transmission solutions, announces the completion of ISO-9001
(2000 Standard) recertification of its Birmingham Regional Service
Center's quality management systems standards.
Earlier this year, Philadelphia Gear completed ISO-9001
(2000 Standard) recertification for its corporate headquarters in
Norristown, Pennsylvania. The completion of recertification at the
Birmingham facility is the first in Philadelphia Gear's efforts
to ensure all five of its Regional Service Centers are recertified
under ISO-9001 (2000 Standard).
"Having recently completed ISO recertification
for our corporate offices, Philadelphia Gear is continuing
to ensure our Regional Service Centers meet those same standards
- particularly considering the strong emphasis ISO now puts
on customer satisfaction," says Rod Francis, Director
of Quality for Philadelphia Gear. "ISO recertification
guarantees that each of our Regional Service Centers are operating
at the same high standards, ensuring we provide the same consistent
service for our customers across the country."
ISO-9001 specifies requirements for a quality
management system where an organization:
Needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently
provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory
Aims to enhance customer satisfaction through
the effective application of the system, including processes
for continual improvement of the system and the assurance
of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
"Having an ISO-certified system in place
is critical for gearing service and repair, where the difference
between properly functioning gearing and gear failure can
be one-hundredth of an inch," comments Randy Goodson,
Operations Manager for the Birmingham Regional Service Center.
"This is particularly true for our new facility, as we
work to provide the breadth and quality of service offered
at Philadelphia Gear's other regional facilities."

Association (AGMA), Philadelphia Gear offers products and
