PGC Wins Fourth Consecutive Best Places
to Work in PA Award
For the fourth consecutive year, PGC was named in the Top 100 of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania. The program recognizes 100 companies throughout the state in two groups: 50 medium-sized companies (25-250 employees) and 50 large companies (251 or more employees). PGC was recognized in the medium category and finished 14th, rising up 12 spots from 2008 and placing the highest on the list since our participation began in 2005.
Thousands of companies from across the state entered the two-part evaluation process. The first part evaluates workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics and is conducted by
the Best Places to Work committee. The second part consists of a confidential survey designed to measure employees’ experiences and satisfaction levels. Both elements of the evaluation process are administered and collated by a third party and the combined scores are used to determine the top companies and final rankings. “This is a wonderful reflection of PGC people,” said Carl Rapp, president of Philadelphia Gear. "To receive this award during any year is an achievement, but it was particularly special for us to win this honor during such difficult economic times.” Over 40% of the companies who won the award in 2008 did not repeat in 2009 and we were again one of only a small handful of manufacturing companies on the list. “It remains our on-going commitment to improve PGC in every way we can,” Carl Continued, “whether it be our market focus, benefits, tools or training.
“We want to ensure that PGC (at all sites) remains a great place for people to work. The expectation is that any investment in how people are treated and equipped becomes evident to our customers, who consistently tell us that they appreciate dealing with good people who are experts in what they do and who care about them. All the recognition goes to our team.”
